Showcase of Outstanding Agri Sector Innovation

Eight highly innovative Western Australian companies showcased their businesses at the HARVEST AgTech Accelerator Pitch Event.  The evening concluded with prizes being awarded to three:

·         Triangle Capital Innovation Export Award; Scientific AeroSpace

·         Atomic Sky Regional Innovation Award; Grubs Up

·         Agworld Agribusiness Leadership Prize; MaldiID

The three month HARVEST accelerator program saw participants attending masterclasses in business planning, export strategy, effective capital and growth marketing.  They met with 40+ industry experts including farmers, leading agricultural companies, global technology leaders and business growth experts.

The initiative also included regional activities and meetings with potential farming clients. It was supported by the CONNECT regional innovation masterclasses, which were held in Esperance, Margaret River and Manjimup.

Pitches in the showcase included the full cohort for the program of P&A Pan, Convergio, Geomoby, WindTurbine, GrubsUp, MaldiID, Scientific Aerospace and Mapizy.  The eight companies were judged on their innovative products, strategic growth plans and potential benefits to the agricultural sector. Judging panel for the evening were Nicole Keating (CSBP), Greg Riebe (Triangle Capital Partners) and Susan Hall (DPIRD) The three awards were presented by Christopher Tallentire MLA, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Water, Fisheries, Forestry, Innovation and ICT, and Science.

The evening also included an inspiring key note speech from Andrew Young , Managing Director of Plum Grove, which highlighted the need for agility and flexibility in businesses to follow global trends in agriculture.

Based on the successful outcomes achieved in this first round, and the high demand from the sector, additional HARVEST programs will run in the second half of 2018, including a residential bootcamp version
